END BSL.

STOP BULLYING MY BREED.

There is one of those specific 'Pitbull' statistics I was telling you guys about. It's impossible to classify every single breed under that title, It just ain't happenin'.

GET IT TOGETHER WORLD.

Enjoy.

Something that irks me.

I want to kind of lay this on the table. I could write about Pitbulls for hours, I could mention how adorable and loving they are, how big their hearts are. I could go on about how much I hate the BSL and I can't wait for the day that it ends. I could go on and on about this cause because it is so dear to me, but this is something that I need to get off my chest:

  1. A 'Pitbull' is not a breed.
I literally get infuriated when I hear 'I have a purbred Pitbull' Um, no. No you do not. These do not EXIST! Now you're probably thinking, "Oh my goodness, she's crazy.. I have a Pitbull.' BUT! What I'm saying is you probably own one of a few breeds: An American Pitbull Terrier, an American Staffordshire Terrier or a Bull Terrier. These are the most common breeds that are wrongly classified as a 'Pitbull' breed. You're probably wondering why this is a big deal: MANY BREEDS ARE WRONGLY CLASSIFIED AS PITBULLS WHEN THEY ARE NOT! This just adds to the stereotype. If, say, an American Bulldog attacks a child, the headlines will read, "PITBULL MAULS CHILD" but wait, wasn't it an American Bulldog? That's my point. They are feeding the hate - they're feeding all the issues with this 'breed

  2. This wrongly causes many breeds to be wrongly named.
What I mean by this is that in the shelter you always see "Pitbull mix" but ironically enough, when DNA tests are done on these dogs, only about 1 out of 10 actually has any of the above breeds listed in their DNA make up. WRONGLY CLASSIFIED AS A PITBULL. This is a question now about the statistics: How can they be right!? They're going off an entire GROUP of dogs - so how can the statistics be trusted when it's not one sole breed? They can't be trusted, that's why. This also means that any dog with a square chest and a stocky head will be feared when they approach anyone.
  3. They weren't bred to fight!
Many people don't know this. They actually think they were made for the purpose of throwing them in a ring and watching them fight. They were NOT bred for this. If only you understood how hard it is to get them to fight, that's why there are so many dead dogs at seized rings. THEY WERE NOT CHOOSING TO FIGHT. However, if you put a dog in a ring and tell it to fight, it's going to fight for it's life. I cannot express that enough. THEIR LIFE IS ON THE LINE - SO SOME WILL CHOOSE TO FIGHT. Wouldn't you do the exact same?
  4.  Finally, due to some many "backyard breeders" needing to own a Pitbull of any sorts, THIS exists. Spay and Neuter your pets, guys. please please please do not add to overpopulation.

Let's Debunk Some More Myths!

Pitbulls have locking jaws
  • FALSE! They're like any other jaws. If you were to look at an x-ray (while in complete dark about the breed) you wouldn't be able to pinpoint the Pitbull. You'd simply see two identical x-ray's.

    Pitbulls are good with children
    • TRUE! Pitbulls were often referred to as 'Nanny dogs' because many people trusted these dogs enough to let the children and the dog sit in their front yard, alone together. This was because not only did they trust the pitbull alone with their child, they trusted them to guard their child. (Disclaimer: please do not leave animals and children alone -)

Certain 'types' of pitbulls are more aggressive
    • FALSE! (ie: red nose pitbulls) this is simply ridiculous. They have the same genetic make up just simply different coat colors. It's a simple stereotype.

Pitbulls cannot live with other animals.
  • FALSE FALSE FALSE! I am first hand witness of this. I have a cat, a small dog and two ferrets and along with my pitbull, they all live together peacefully (Even if Sahara - my pittie - is a nuisance). She loves to play and she knows when to stop being a pain in the butt.

I'm sure some of you pitbull owners tend to laugh at the myths that actually need busted - I know I do. We're here to raise awareness and we're here to help people understand a VERY misunderstood breed. Let's keep it up.

Check these success stories out

Hey guys,

So. I'm going to post a few links to some pitbull success stories, ya'll should check into them. These stories give hope - and a future to many pitbulls that are now suffering through the BSL. Many people in these articles talk about how they once were/knew of someone who was completely uneducated towards the breed and the story goes into to how they became so wrapped up in them later on.
